Brisbane Floods

Hi all,

I know we’ve been a little slack with the blog of late, but I thought this would be a good opportunity to let all our customers know that our datacentre is not threatened by the recent South-East Queensland Floods. Services should remain as normal throughout the floods, as long as our other upstream providers remain alive as well. Our homes remain above the flood levels as well, and all of the Net5 family are dry and safe.

Our thoughts also go out to those who have lost their homes and loved ones at this time.

If you’d like to contribute to the flood relief effort, donations can be made through the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Fund.

Update — 12/01/2011 7:25pm AEST:
As the flood waters rise higher, we are informed by our connectivity providers that we will most likely retain network connectivity during this period. There was some concerns that the Pipe Networks facility may close, but the latest information suggests that this is no longer likely.

Parts of the CBD and inner city regions have been disconnected from the power grid as a safety measure. At this stage, both our datacentre and connectivity providers remain unaffected by these outages. Our datacentre has approximately 24 hours of backup diesel power in case of loss of power.

We continue to monitor the situation closely, and again, wish that everybody remains safe and well during this time.
